Christ and a sinner (that be me, G)

1 Corinthians 1:22

22 “Jews want miracles for proof, and Greeks look for wisdom”

God had been calling me for years, allowing me to live despite my disobedience , my ignorance  and my pride.  Evidence! Jews shout, show me evidence  Christ is God. One fateful drunken evening, I should have died yet for medically  unexplainable reasons I’m alive. The knife should have went into my heart as I was stabbed on the left side directly adjacent to that four chambered, fist sized pump. Why the blade, by the narrowest of narrow margins just skimmed the outer surface of my heart and did not hit bulls eye is just one  of several  miracles I’m able to testify on.  That’s right miracle.  Show me the  worthiness of teachings  (wisdom) of Christ then, Gentiles clamor. Recently I had insulted a friend over an insignificant,  meaningless topic. By reading and study of the wisdom of His teachings, I gained  knowledge of the scriptures and the way to use  the knowledge as intended by the Messiah.  I apologized to said friend salvaging the friendship. This evidence I provide for your diligent inspection.

Ephesians 4:31
Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort.

James

1:20″ Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose”

Baptism an act of faith and commitment!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 28, 2011 by gerilewis001

My daughter asked to be baptised the other day. I didn’t have to ask her, she just checked the response card in the pew. I am convinced this is the result of my daughter attending Church with me, seeing the change in my attitude and behavior. She knows her father is saved, she experienced the change and salvation as well as me. Jesus has brought me closer to her through the church. Praise God.

You may wonder what baptism is or requires, so read on from Venice Church’s blog which I pilfered.

“Baptism is the first thing that God asks us to do after we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. If you have accepted Christ and you have not been baptized you have an opportunity to take this important step in your walk with Christ.
What I want you to understand more than anything is that baptism does not save you, forgive you, wash away your sins, or get you into heaven. Only putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, and resurrection does that. But…baptism is your next step after salvation. It is your coming out party. It tells everybody, your friends, your family, and the world that you are a Christ follower. When you stand in the water it is a picture of Christ on the cross. When you go under the water that represents His burial. When you come up out of the water it shows that Christ has risen from the dead. Baptism is a statement of your faith. “-Pastor Craig Henson

Judo! A great sport and martial art!

Judo is a fantastic way to get or stay in shape, defend yourself, develop self-esteem and confidence, meet great people and learn a little Japanese language and culture! I have studied Judo for  13 years as well as Setoryu Karate, holding a Shodan in both disciplines.  A high light of my competitive Judo career was earning the Bronze medal in the 2006 State and National USJA tournament. I am a USJA/USJF member of Kodokan Judo and am an Instructor at City of Industry Judo. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Industry-Sheriffs-Judo-Club-YAL/107293995958738

Kano Sensei age 28.

Judo founded in the late 1800′s by  Jigiro Kano, a former Jui jitsu practitioner, is the most effective means of self defense. The Japanese police held a competition to choose Judo or Jujitsu ( in the 1900s) for the method of defense and apprehension. Judo players defeated Jujitsu practitioners by an overwellming percentage. The main difference in the discipline is the philosophical break in training of one’s character as well as the body and technique. “Judo is the way to the most effective use of both physical and spiritual strength. By training you in attacks and defenses it refines your body and your soul and helps you make the spiritual essence of Judo a part of your very being. In this way you are able to perfect yourself and contribute something of value to the world. This is the final goal of Judo discipline.”-
