Wild Life on the Deshutes River. Oregon, USA

A charred Scrub Oak tree, Columbia Basalt formations, some covered with short prairie grass others bare naked to the elements. Solitude and solace, my constant companions and the snakes. They slither about finding a cool slab of concrete to beat the 100 plus degree heat. This lil fellow is Gopher snake. He masquerades as a Rattler and does a good job at it, as he fooled me for a start this am!
