Thanksgiving= Turkey Bowl. Excepts from 1978 Crashed Memories

venice-pavilion

The Turkey Bowl our annual football game was played on the lawn at the former Venice Pavilion adjacent to the roller skaters shooting the cones.

“All joined in , Cholos, Crips, surfers, skaters and Punk Rockers. We played the game with a vengeance to inflict as much damage as possible to the opponent. We played as if we were the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins themselves. A sight to see for certain, 40 or so Venice,CA misfits hopped up on dope and alcohol pounding each other into submission. Rex had his leg broken and was carted away screening for his mother.”
