Back County in San Bernadino National Forest.
San Bernadino National Forest has a lot to offer for the outdoor enthusiast and off roader. The forest is known for it’s rugged vertical ascent and very rocky terrain from the desert floor to the sparse conifer forest. The roads switch back very radically and you must be aware of your and your vehicles capabilities. Unfortunately there is a lot of illegal activity such as meth labs and dumping in and on the forest, which really breaks a rangers heart. Often forest patrons will report suspected activity but it is difficult to find as the meth labs are often set up in a tent in a ravine or canyon and the cookers return periodically to the meth tent or camper. Watch out for rattlers and where you step as we almost walked up on this big Pacific Rattler!
