Humanitarian Mission Mindanao, Philippines #2

Meeting with the teacher and kids @ MLD school

The MLD school is located on a fish and prawn farm in the village of Mocas, Misamis Oriental Prefecture, Mindanao. The operators of the farm, the Mike Lord Damayo family set up the school when they bought the farm as the villagers had no school. The teachers are paid by donations as well as all school and learning supplies are donated.

It is a 2 mile walk from the main road to the schoolhouse. The road and school are in disrepair and often floods during rain or a high tide. The school needs donations of writing paper, pencils, pens, shoes, computers (new or used). The school has no athletic field basketball court or playground equipment. the needs of the school can be meet with your charitable and generous donations. The most pressing needs are the repair of the road, computers, and school supplies.
I had the pleasure to teach English and math to the students. Let me tell you these kids are motivated and appreciate learnining. They kids all have English skills, very polite and well behaved. The teachers do their best and are appreciative of any help to care and educate the children.

With the repair of the road a truck can make it all the way to the schoolhouse and construction can begin on a basketball court and playing field. If you have any decent surplus items such as a swing set or basketball stanchons, backboars and hoops or wish to contribute/donate money or other items please contact me @ 3109026541 or gerilewis001@gmail.com or the nonprofit organization SPAUSA. Thank you!
